There's a call for people across South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire 'not to underestimate' the dangers of 'binge drinking' over the festive season.
With Christmas Party Season underway - we're being reminded to 'take it easy' & 'be sensible' with alcohol on nights out.
Stuart Green works at the Montrose Health Group in Sheffield - who help people with substance addiction & recovery.
He has this advice:
"At Christmas time people like to let their hair down and drink maybe a little bit too much.
"We don't want to kill the party atmosphere for people but just be super conscious about managing your drink really and consuming a reasonable amount on a night out.
"Avoid pre-drinks as well wherever possible.
"It's important to know who you're going out with.
""Make sure you're going out in a good mindset too.
"If you're angry or upset, the chances are that will just amplify while you're out.
"Try to avoid drinking in rounds, as this can increase the overall amount of alcohol you end up drinking.
"Space your drinks out and try to have a good time.
"If you eat a good meal before going out, that will slow down the absorption of the alcohol as well.
"Binge drinkers often end up with 'hangziety' - so you end up the day after regretting what you've done.
"Especially with office parties - where you have to then work around those people again - it might end up making you feel like never going back to the office.
"Take taxis on your night out too and drink plenty of water throughout.
"Have a good time but look after yourselves."
