Barnsley councillors are set to review a takeaway licence after concerns of illegal working from the Home Office.
Pizza Place on Manchester Road in Thurlstone, Barnsley has been licensed to provide late-night refreshments since February, 2006.
This includes hot food and non-alcoholic drinks Monday to Sunday from 11pm until 12.30am the following morning.
Mr Haci Ucucu has been the premise licence holder since June, 2025.
In June, 2026, Home Office immigration enforcement compliance officers submitted an application for the licence to be reviewed over concerns of illegal working, according to a report to be discussed by Barnsley Council’s licensing board sub-committee next week.
North East, Yorkshire and Humber immigration compliance enforcement (ICE) team visited the premises, and found two men who didn’t hold the right to work in the UK, the report states.
The team revisited in November, and found one man who was previously found working there, who didn’t have the right to work in the UK.
Immigration officers have declared they have grounds to believe the licence holder has failed to meet the ‘prevention of crime and disorder’ licensing objective, as illegal working was identified.
Their concerns over the takeaway include illegal working, failure of right-to-work compliance, non-compliance after enforcement action, wages and accommodation concerns at the premises.
The review will take place on Wednesday, August 19, where the licence could be revoked.
