Barnsley midfielder Cameron McGeehan has been confirmed as club captain for the 2026/27 season.

The 31 year old returned to Oakwell over the summer but already has 70 appearances for The Reds across all competitions.

He was part of the 2018/19 promotion winning side which managed 80 league goals and 91 points during the season.

Speaking to the Barnsley FC website, Head Coach Daniel Stendel said: "Cameron is a natural leader. Every day in training he sets the standard - his work rate, his honesty, the way he demands more from the players around him.

"That is exactly what I want from my captain.

"Now it is about him leading us from the front, on and off the pitch, starting this weekend."
