Cyclist killed in Barnsley crash named as police investigation continues

A cyclist killed in a crash in Barnsley last month has been named as 43 year old Gary Roberts.

He was riding long Pontefract Road at around 7:30pm on August 8 when we was involved in a collision with a silver BMW, which then fled the scene.

Gary died at the scene.

A 24 year old man, believed to be the BMW driver, has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

He was been bailed pending further investigations.

Anyone with information about the crash is being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
