Extra patrols in Balby after guns fired at homes last week
Police were called to separate incidents in Surrey Street and Sheppard Road last week
Extra police patrols will be in the Balby area of Doncaster today, as officers continue to investigate two firearms incidents last week.
Shots were fired towards homes on Surrey Street and Sheppard Road last Friday (April 17) and Sunday (April 19) respectively.
Nobody was hurt in either incident, though no arrests have been made.
Officers will be going house to house on both Surrey Street and Sheppard Road today speaking to residents.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright of South Yorkshire Police: “While we are keeping an open mind about these incidents and who and why could be responsible, we are now treating them as linked.
“My team of officers and detectives are exploring all lines of enquiry to find those responsible and I urge you to speak to us if you believe you can help.
“Gun crime has no place in our area, and while you may not believe you could be affected directly, anyone, any innocent member of the public, including children can get caught up in these aberrant acts, this is why we will not stop until dangerous offenders are put before the courts.
“Please support us in our efforts.”
