A man and woman have both denied murdering a two month-old baby, who died after police were called to a property in Lincolnshire, almost three years ago.
Liam Neve and Lauren Murgatroyd, both aged 26, pleaded not guilty to the murder of the infant, who cannot be named for legal reasons and causing or allowing death.
The defendants spoke only to confirm their name, date of birth and to enter pleas, during a half-hour hearing at Lincoln Crown Court today (Wednesday).
As well as murder and causing death, Neve, of Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, Lincolnshire, and Murgatroyd, of Novak Place, Morecambe, Lancashire, further denied two counts of child cruelty, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and two of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical injury.
Adjourning the case, Judge Simon Hirst told the defendants: “Stand up please both of you.
“Your trial will take place in the week of June 7 (2027), exactly which day is not clear.”
Lincolnshire Police has previously said that the baby was taken to hospital and died, after officers were called to a property, in Bourne, on Tuesday October 31 2023.
