Third person charged in connection with the murder of a man in Fletton
The 59-year-old died from a single stab wound to the neck.
A third person has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 59-year-old Zbigniew Wasiak in Fletton.
A woman arrested previously in relation to the death of Mr Wasiak is now the third person to be charged with his murder.
Malgorzata Mikste, 28, of no fixed address, was re-arrested yesterday in relation to the investigation.
She was charged with murder, remanded in custody and will face her first hearing in relation to the case at Peterborough Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning (1 October).
Police were called by the fire service at about 3.35am on 7 September with reports of the fire in Wootton Avenue, Fletton.
A post-mortem examination, which took place concluded Zbigniew, 59, died from a single stab wound to his neck.
A joint investigation with Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service determined an accelerant was used by a third party to start the fire.
Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “We are still in the early stages of our investigation and part of the initial enquiries will be to establish why the fire was started at his home.
“We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, particularly if you live in the area of Wootton Avenue and recall seeing or hearing anything suspicious around the time of the incident.
“I understand this is likely to be concerning to the local community, but we believe it to be an isolated incident and we have extra patrols in the area.”
