A teenager, who drove at speeds exceeding 100mph in Peterborough as he tried to evade police, has been sentenced.

18 year old Zachary Hassan was seen driving a Ford Kuga down High Street, Fletton, at about 2am on 23rd May.

When police officers signalled for him to stop with their vehicle’s blue lights, Hassan ignored the instructions.

During the pursuit, Hassan reached around 125mph and dangerously drove at 65mph in a 30mph zone.

He also drove the wrong way around a roundabout, ran through red traffic lights, and ignored keep-left bollards.

The chase concluded at Huntsman's Gate, Bretton, where Hassan attempted to flee on foot but was arrested shortly after hiding in a bush.

At Peterborough Magistrates’ Court, Hassan, of Lythemere, Orton Malborne, Peterborough, confessed to charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop, possession of cannabis, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.

He received a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for a year, and a one-year driving disqualification.
