Spalding man jailed for dangerous driving after high-speed police chase
Lloyd Hook sentenced for multiple offences including dangerous driving
A 31-year-old man from Spalding has been jailed for his involvement in a police pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 90mph.
Lloyd Hook, of Daniels Crescent, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on 25th June 2026, where he pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods, dangerous driving, possession of a class B drug (cannabis), driving whilst disqualified, and driving without insurance.
He has been sentenced to one year and seven months in prison and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge.
Additionally, Hook has been disqualified from driving for four years and three months and is required to take an extended retest.
Details of the high-speed pursuit
The sentencing follows an incident on 20th January 2026 when Hook was seen driving a stolen Land Rover Discovery Sport with cloned registration plates, reported stolen from Bedfordshire in August 2025.
Hook failed to stop for police, initiating a pursuit through Downham Market.
During the chase, Hook drove at dangerous speeds, went on the wrong side of the road, mounted pavements, drove through red lights, and overtook stationary traffic into oncoming vehicles.
At one point, he collided with a local business on Railway Road, causing damage to the building.
He eventually stopped and tried to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
Comments from law enforcement
Sgt Craig Hawkes, the investigating officer, commented on the case:
“Hook’s actions showed a complete disregard for public safety. Driving at speeds of over 90mph, ignoring traffic laws, and putting innocent road users at serious risk is utterly unacceptable."
He further acknowledged the officers' quick response in safely bringing Hook to a halt and preventing potential harm.
"This sentence reflects the severity of his offending and sends a clear message that dangerous driving and criminal behaviour of this kind will not be tolerated.”
