A man has been banned from entering eight shops across Peterborough and March for three years following a series of thefts.

James Maguire, 39, was jailed for ten weeks at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court in October after admitting two shop thefts in Peterborough and a theft from a vehicle in Scotney Street, New England.

Following a further court hearing, Maguire, of Bevishall, Paston, was issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 9 December. The order prevents him from entering eight specific shops in the area.

Sergeant Luke Cooke said the application was made due to Maguire’s persistent offending and the impact it has on local businesses, adding that the order gives police greater powers to deal with any future breaches.

Maguire is banned from stores including Tesco in Werrington, Marks & Spencer and Morrisons in Walton, Boots in March, and several city centre shops in Peterborough.

Anyone who sees Maguire breaching the order is urged to report it to police
