Ryhall Library will close for essential refurbishment work from Wednesday 4th March, as Rutland County Council carries out improvements to libraries across the area.

The two to three week project promises a host of upgrades including new IT equipment, a self-service kiosk, a revamped children’s area, and the installation of a kitchen to support community use. The refresh is also set to bring better access and lighting for volunteers, and a full redecoration of the main library space.

Cllr Christine Wise, Portfolio Holder for Transport, Environment and Communities, said:

“These improvements are an important investment in our library buildings and form part of our wider capital programme to ensure they remain welcoming, accessible and fit for the future.”

While Ryhall Library is closed, members are encouraged to use other libraries in Ketton and Oakham. The council is also exploring options for a temporary click and collect service for Ryhall members.

Meanwhile, work continues at Uppingham Library, with the temporary library service now running from St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church just off Market Square.

Library users in Uppingham can return books and collect reserved items from 10.30am to 4pm on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Cllr Wise added: “We would like to thank Uppingham Town Hall for their support in hosting the temporary library service while works are underway, and we are also grateful to St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church for kindly providing space so we can continue offering a return and collection service to residents.”
