The Rutland community is reeling after the theft and destruction of one of their wheelchair accessible minibuses, which was stolen and vandalised at the start of October. The vehicle, parked overnight at OEP, was broken into, trashed, and had its engine removed following a Friday night raid.

Those affected include various community groups, schools, and organisations who rely on the transport service for trips and activities, now facing disruption. While no injuries were reported, the incident has left the community deeply frustrated.

In response, a fundraising campaign has been launched, with a Just Giving page established to aid in replacing the essential vehicle. The support from locals has been overwhelming, with many rallying to ensure the community regains its vital transport facility.

Insurance covers the damaged vehicles, ensuring the community is poised to bounce back from the setback. Organisers have expressed determination, stating, “We will bounce back, stronger than ever and start to fundraise. Your support would be hugely appreciated.”

For those wishing to contribute, donations can be made through the Just Giving page.
