Rutland MP launches survey on life in rural town
MP Alicia Kearns (Con) has invited Oakham residents to complete the questionnaire
An MP has launched a survey to gauge public opinion on the state of a rural town.
Rutland and Stamford MP Alicia Kearns (Con) has invited Oakham residents to complete the questionnaire on their hometown.
The survey canvasses public opinion on life in Oakham, with questions ranging from the “one improvement, investment or change” respondents would make to help improve the town to whether the high street should be pedestrianised.
Other prompts relate to the state of the Oakham’s upkeep, broadband connectivity and crime.
The survey goes on to seek public opinion on county-wide issues, such as local government reorganisation and whether council reserves should be used to fund the Rutland sea dragon display project, before turning to national topics including taxes and the NHS.
Finally, residents are prompted to share which way they voted at the 2024 general election, then score each political party according to the likelihood they would vote for them if another election were called tomorrow.

Mrs Kearns launched a similar survey on Lincolnshire earlier this year.
