Prisoner jailed for unprovoked attack at HMP Peterborough
Danderson Decker, 30, punched the victim in the back of the head
A prisoner who launched an unprovoked attack on a fellow inmate at HMP Peterborough has been jailed.
Danderson Decker, 30, punched the victim in the back of the head as he was leaving his cell on 15 March this year.
The force of the blow caused the man to suffer a seizure, and he was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.
The assault happened on one of the prison wings, with the victim having his back turned at the time.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (8 August), Decker, of Bromham Road in Bedford, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison after admitting grievous bodily harm with intent.
DC James Walker-Harrison, who investigated, said: “This was a brutal assault, which is reflected in the sentence handed down. Assault is assault, wherever it takes place, and is always treated seriously by police and the criminal justice system.”
