Peterborough’s crackdown on crime in city centre to continue
Council leaders are agreeing to extend a public order for another three years.
Last updated 5th Mar 2026
A public order aimed at reducing trouble in Peterborough city centre will stay in place until April 2029, after council bosses gave the go-ahead for an extension.
The move gives police and council staff extra powers to issue fines and stop anti-social behaviour, with nearly all those consulted in favour.
In Millfield, new rules will make it illegal to drink alcohol in public spaces unless you’re in a licensed venue.
