Peterborough pub rounds off 24-hour Poppy Appeal bike ride
Staff and customers have been taking on the challenge this weekend
People in Peterborough are rounding off a 24-hour bike ride today as they raise money for the Poppy Appeal.
Staff and customers at the Moorhen pub in Hampton have been taking turns on an exercise bike since yesterday, hoping to cover more than 200 miles for the Royal British Legion.
"It's going to be enjoyable, everyone can participate, especially when we've got live music as well so it's (about) bringing the community together," Matthew Southwell, event organiser and the Moorhen's deputy manager, said.
The team of cyclists have aimed to cover more than 205 miles, the equivalent of cycling from Calais to Normandy in France.
But Matthew said if they hit that target early, that won't be the end.
"We're aiming to do 205 miles, and if we hit that, we'll keep going until the 24 hours is done; we've got customers and local councillors participating," he added.
"This event is something good and for a great cause."
Live music and discounts for veterans will also be happening at the pub.
