Peterborough man jailed for filming inside women's toilets
Alan Russell has been sentenced for breaching sexual harm prevention order.
A Peterborough man has been jailed for one year and six months after he breached a sexual harm prevention order by entering and filming inside women's toilets.
Alan Russell, 46, was reported last April by a colleague who discovered his actions at their workplace in Huntingdon.
CCTV footage revealed Russell following the victim to the toilets and recording on his mobile phone as she closed the cubicle door.
This incident violated an SHPO imposed by Lincolnshire Magistrates’ Court in July 2015 related to Russell's previous convictions for multiple voyeurism offences.
The order prohibited Russell from entering female toilets, lingering near public toilets, and accessing female changing rooms.
At Cambridge Crown Court, Russell admitted to charges of voyeurism and breaching the SHPO.
PC Alex Neill, the investigating officer, commented on Russell's actions saying, “Despite his previous court order, Russell targeted his female colleague, filming her in a private setting without her consent.”
"I can only imagine how violated the victim must have felt in a place where she should have felt safe."
Neill praised the victim's courage in coming forward, allowing Russell to be held accountable.
He added, "I hope his sentence shows how seriously we take this kind of crime."
