Sebastian Hart, a 46-year-old man from Peterborough, has been jailed for three years and ten weeks after being convicted of burglary for the third time.

Hart entered a house in College Park, off Eastfield Road in Peterborough, through an open kitchen window on 2nd September last year.

While the occupants were away, he stole electronic items, computer games, and a purse containing bank cards.

Shortly after, Hart attempted to use one of the stolen bank cards at a filling station shop on Eastfield Road, but the transaction was unsuccessful.

He was arrested on 5th September at the CeX shop in Long Causeway, Peterborough, while trying to sell stolen items.

Police tracked stolen air pods taken during the burglary in the area, leading them to the city centre where Hart was apprehended.

He was also found with a stolen Bluetooth speaker.

CCTV footage captured Hart walking towards the victim’s home approximately 30 minutes before using the stolen bank card.

On 3rd June, Hart, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court after pleading guilty to fraud and being found guilty of burglary.

Detective Constable Lisa Flatters noted the pattern of Hart's criminal behaviour: "This was the third time Hart has been convicted of burglary, so he’s had ample time to learn the error of his ways."

Flatters acknowledged the severity of Hart's crime, reflecting on the impact of violating people's homes.
