Peterborough Launches Spark Awards to Honour Those Supporting Children
New scheme shines a light on dedication in education, health, and community roles
A pioneering award scheme has been launched in Peterborough to recognise the people who support, protect and inspire children and young people across the city. The Spark Awards, organised by Peterborough City Council, aim to highlight the dedication, care and innovation shown by professionals, frontline staff, volunteers and community champions working with children.
Nominations are open across fourteen categories, including education, health, policing, social work, sport and volunteering. The awards are designed to celebrate those who regularly go the extra mile—from teachers and youth workers to sporting charities and Scout leaders.
Councillor Katy Cole, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, says the awards are about shining a light on compassion and commitment: “Every day, there are people making a lasting difference in children’s lives, often without seeking recognition, and these awards are our chance to celebrate their work.”
Young people will play a central role in the Spark Awards, shaping the judging, entertainment, and even presenting awards during the ceremony. The winners will be revealed at a special event at Peterborough’s Marriott Hotel on October twenty second.
Anyone who knows someone making a real impact in the lives of children is encouraged to nominate their “shining star” before the July thirty first deadline.
