Peterborough burglar jailed after damaging cars at auction site
Adam Dunn sentenced for burglary and criminal damage
A man has been jailed for two years following a series of burglaries and acts of vandalism at a Peterborough car auction site.
Adam Dunn, 37, visited City Car Auctions on Bakewell Road, Orton Southgate in the early hours of 19th July and triggered the alarm by entering through a fire exit.
During his initial visit, he kicked multiple doors and punched a control panel, leaving the premises without taking anything.
Later that day, Dunn returned to the auction site twice more, where he was challenged by staff during his second visit.
His third visit, around 3.10pm, resulted in Dunn taking a set of keys and smashing the windows of several vehicles on the forecourt.
The police were called and Dunn, from Hinchcliffe, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, was arrested.
Between his visits to the auction, Dunn also went to Evolve Technologies in Milnyard Square, Orton Southgate, where he stole an energy drink, fuel card, and sunglasses from an unlocked vehicle.
He appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on 27th April, where he admitted to two counts of burglary, criminal damage, and theft from a motor vehicle.
Detective Sergeant Lauren Easton commented on the case: “Dunn’s bizarre behaviour that day led to significant financial loss and disruption to a local business. I’m pleased he was apprehended by staff and has now appeared in court to answer for his actions.”
