Peterborough's Anglia Ruskin University says they are setting their graduates up with essential skills and experience to be able to walk straight into a job
The first cohort of ARU Peterborough students to join the city’s new university in 2022 are preparing to celebrate their graduation this week, with many having already secured skilled jobs in the local area.
Peterborough Cathedral will host this year’s graduation ceremony for ARU Peterborough students at 2pm on Friday, 11 July.
A lot of employers are looking for soft skills
Professor Ross Renton, principal at ARU Peterborough, said:
"When one of our graduates goes for an interview they've had experience of working in real life organisations, they been in simulated environments and often had placements."
"A lot of employers are looking for soft skills so making sure our graduates have those skills."
"Being able to communicate effectively and working with others really makes a difference."
Our graduates have had experience of working in real life organisations
The first graduation is a landmark moment for the city, which until the opening of ARU Peterborough, was known as a higher education “cold spot”.
The university say they have provided opportunities for many students to develop their skills and given opportunities they might not have had otherwise.
