People in Rutland are trying to save the only pub in their village.

After the King’s Arms in Wing closed in December, locals are looking at options to reopen the pub.

A village without a pub is missing something

Now the community are looking at options to reopen the pub.

Former High Sheriff of Rutland, David Wood who lives in the village said:

"I think it's a very important part of the community."

"I think a village without a pub is missing something, particularly when you had a pub and you're used to it."

"We think it's absolutely the heart of the village, and there's very strong support in the village to see if we can save the pub."

"It's also an attraction for new people moving to the village."

"We are passionate about it, and we are working very hard at it, and we're determined to make it work, and we have a lot of support."

They are appealing to any interested buyers as well as exploring buying the pub themselves.

Since the pub has closed, the group have hosted pub nights once a month at the village hall.

They say this shows there is a demand for a pub in the village.
