Rutland and Stamford's pride event is returning today for the forth year.

The day is aiming to celebrate and welcome the LGBTQ+ community in the area.

People can just be themselves and have fun in a safe place

Miss Hannah Rack, Director of the event, said:

"Rutland and Stamford have a massive number of people under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, and with all the hate in the world, we need to show the world that it's okay to be different, and hopefully, we can educate people."

"The first year it was a phenomenal turnout, and it was just about everyone coming and enjoying themselves without being scrutinised."

"This is an event for people to be who they want to be without any danger."

"People can just be themselves and have fun in a safe place."

We need to show the world that it's okay to be different

Rutland and Stamford's pride event is being held at the marketplace in Oakham.

The day will include drag shows, food, music and information stalls.

There will also be a march from Cutt's Close Park at 10am and the main event will be on from this time until 11pm.
