Pedestrian fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a car in Peterborough

A man has been left with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Peterborough.
The man was using the pedestrian crossing in Elmfield Road, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, at just before 2am on Sunday (25 May) when he was struck by a grey Mini Cooper heading towards Garton End Road.
The 39-year-old from Peterborough was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the grey Mini Cooper stopped briefly at the scene but left before police arrived.
A 30-year-old woman from Peterborough was arrested later the same day on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, driving while unfit through drink or drugs and driving without a licence. She has been released on conditional bail until 22 August.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, together with anyone with relevant dashcam or video doorbell footage.
An investigation is now underway - and anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
