A murder inquiry's underway after the death of a baby in Cambridgeshire.

Police were called to a property at St John's Close in March on the morning of Saturday 3rd January this year where 3-month-old Atijus Elertaite was found with life threatening injuries.

The youngster died in hospital five days later - with a post mortem examination concluding that his preliminary cause of death was a head injury.

A woman aged 25 and man who is 22 - both from March - were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily before his death, they've subsequently been re-arrested and questioned on suspicion of murder.

Both have now been bailed by Cambridgeshire Police pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Verity McCann said, "We know the local community will be shocked and deeply saddened, and our thoughts remain with those affected by Atijus’ death.

"We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and urge everyone to be mindful and not speculate on the case, particularly on social media, as this could affect our investigation."
