A drug dealer who tried to hide in bushes while running away from police in Peterborough has been jailed for over four years.

Mohammed Mayar, 23, was spotted by neighbourhood officers with a known drug user in Oxford Road, Millfield, at around 11.15pm on 31 July last year.

As officers chased him, he dropped a bag containing 175 wraps of heroin and 68 wraps of crack cocaine.

The drugs

The drugs had an estimated street value of up to £2,430.

Mayar was found hiding in bushes in Century Square, Millfield.

He was arrested and found with £107.25 in cash.

Mayar denied possessing the drugs with intent to supply, but was found guilty following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in February.

Mayar, of no fixed address, has now been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Detective Constable Gracz, who investigated, said: “This is not Mayar’s first drug dealing conviction as he had been given a suspended sentence just over a week before this arrest.

“Drug dealing and its associated criminality can have a big impact on communities, and I would like to encourage anyone with concerns to report them.”
