Men jailed for carrying knives and drugs in Peterborough
Two men were caught loitering with dangerous items and class A drugs
Two men have been jailed after they were caught carrying knives and class A drugs in Peterborough.
William Black, 47, and Samuel Stewart, 42, were reported loitering in the Orton Centre in Peterborough late at night on 16th December.
Police found Black, who has no fixed address, with a large knife tucked into the waistband of his trousers, as well as 202 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.
Stewart, who is from Hinchcliffe, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, had a pair of pliers, a metal rod, and a Stanley knife in his rucksack.
Both men were arrested after being found with the items, leading to court appearances.
Sentencing
On 29th January, William Black admitted possessing an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply heroin, and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine at Peterborough Crown Court.
He was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
Samuel Stewart appeared at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on 22nd January, where he admitted possessing a knife in a public place.
He was sentenced to six months and one week behind bars.
"Carrying knives and dealing drugs bring fear and violence into our communities," DC Jenny Hargreaves, who investigated the case, said.
"I would like to thank the person who reported their suspicions about Black and Stewart as it allowed us to take them off the streets. Information from the public is a crucial part of our ongoing campaign to tackle this type of crime and I would urge people to always trust their instincts and report things to us."
