A man who strangled a woman and dragged her out of her daughter's bedroom in Doddington has been jailed for a year.

Luke Davey, 35, of Marshall’s Road, Raunds, pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation.

Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court heard how Davey attacked the woman at her home in the early hours of 16th November 2025.

This was following an argument as the couple were splitting up.

The victim was recording the argument with her phone when Davey grabbed it and started strangling her.

She stopped breathing for around 15 seconds.

The woman attempted to call the police from a different phone in her daughter's bedroom when Davey dragged her out.

DC Chris Herring, who investigated, said: “This was a despicable attack which could have had fatal consequences."

Davey has also been handed a five-year restraining order against the victim.
