A man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after threatening someone with a knife in Peterborough.

Raul Maretic-Ramos, 23, was detained by Peterborough City Council enforcement officers in Cathedral Square on 3 March last year after threatening a man with a knife.

Police were called and arrested Maretic-Ramos, who was also found to be in possession of cannabis.

The Stanground man, of Manor Gardens, denied threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place but was found guilty after a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in December.

He returned to the same court on Monday (9 March) where he was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Investigating officer PC Jordan Pleyer said carrying knives is dangerous and welcomed a sentence that reflects the seriousness of the offence.
