March man jailed after high-speed crash left two with life-changing injuries
He's been jailed for two years
A man has been jailed after driving at 90mph and crashing into a car going 20mph, leaving two people with life-changing injuries.
Levi Loveridge, 32, of Whittlesey Road, March, has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Cambridge Crown Court heard how on 29 June 2025, Loveridge was driving a black Volvo V40 east along a 60mph-limit stretch of road next to the River Nene, reaching speeds of up to 91mph.
He crashed into an oncoming Toyota Yaris near the junction with the B1040 North Side.
The Toyota was going at around 20mph, whilst Volvo was going about 79mph at the moment of the crash.
The Toyota left the road and went into an embankment.
Loveridge fled the scene, leaving two people inside the Toyota with serious injuries.
The driver was left with a shattered thigh bone, and the passenger had a fractured back and hip.
Loveridge was arrested five days later at his home.
Officers found him limping and wearing a medical boot.
In interviews, he claimed he had no memory of the crash and that he thought he'd hit his head.
As well as his sentence, Loveridge has also been banned from driving for three years.
"Life-changing injuries"
PC Pete Smith, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: “This was a completely avoidable collision caused by excessive speed. Driving at such high speeds, particularly on rural roads with bends and changing limits, significantly increases the risk of serious injury or worse.
“Two people suffered life-changing injuries in this crash, but Loveridge chose the cowardly option of leaving fleeing than seeking help. We continue to urge all motorists to drive within the limits and take responsibility for their actions on the road.”
