Huntingdonshire District Council has officially commenced construction on the Huntingdon Sport and Health Hub, marking a significant milestone in enhancing local leisure, sport, and health facilities.

Representatives and stakeholders gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony on the new 3G Football pitch site, celebrating the start of Phase 1 in this transformative project.

Scheduled for completion in Autumn 2026, the football pitch symbolizes the first step in a comprehensive redevelopment program aimed at providing modern facilities to residents of all ages.

Huntingdonshire District Council has committed £30 million to bring this project to fruition, supporting progression from detailed design through construction and completion.

The hub will ultimately feature expanded swimming facilities, advanced health and fitness opportunities, enhanced accessibility, and new outdoor sports amenities, striving to tackle health inequalities and promote active lifestyles.

The broader program includes building the main hub, new padel and pickleball courts, and upgrading existing facilities, with the entire project slated to conclude by Autumn 2028.

Councillor Debbie Mickelburgh, Executive Member for Communities, Health and Leisure, expressed enthusiasm for the development, emphasizing its role in fostering active and healthy communities.

Partnership with stakeholders and community engagement remains a priority as the construction advances, ensuring transparency and collaboration throughout the process.
