Family pay tribute to 19-year-old from Spalding who died following collision on A14

A man from Cambridge arrested in connection with the incident has since been released on bail while investigations continue

The family of a man from Spalding in Lincolnshire who was killed in a collision on the A14 have paid tribute to him.

They have also released a photograph of 19-year-old Morgan James Robert Swann.

His family said:

“Our beautiful son was taken from us at the tender age of 19.

“He is utterly adored by his parents Mark and Sonia, his three sisters Georgia, Ellie and Scarlett, as well as grandparents, uncles, auntie, cousins and godparents, and so loved by his many, many friends.

“Morgan had passed all his interviews and assessments to secure a place at Britannia Royal Naval College as a Cadet Officer and follow a career as a submariner. He was awaiting a start date to pursue his dream. We are so proud of him.

“Our world will never be the same and we request privacy as we try to come to terms with the unimaginable pain of our loss.”

Emergency services were called around 9.25pm on the 22nd April with reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles on the eastbound carriageway of the A14.

One person in a car sustained fatal injuries. Three other people in the same car suffered serious injuries.

The driver of a lorry, a 38-year-old man from Cambridge, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Cambridgeshire Police said:

"Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident. They would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time with dash cam footage.

"Anyone with information should report online or call 101 quoting incident 547 of 22 April."
