A 24-year-old drug dealer has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison after crashing into a parked car while attempting to evade police in Peterborough.
Francisco Ramos was driving a Volkswagen Polo on Newark Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, on 7th August when he noticed police presence and accelerated away.
He sped toward Nottingham Way before colliding with a parked car on Derby Drive.
Police officers apprehended Ramos at a filling station on Eastfield Road, Eastfield, Peterborough, where he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.
Further investigation led to his arrest for involvement in supplying class A drugs, as 40 wraps of heroin were discovered on the driver’s side of the vehicle, along with Ramos’ bank card and house key.
Ramos, residing on Exeter Road, New England, Peterborough, admitted the offences and was sentenced to 45 months in jail following his court appearance at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday, 25th September.
He was also subjected to a 40-month driving ban.
DC Igor Simonov, who led the investigation, highlighted the dangers of Ramos’ actions, noting, “Ramos’ reckless decision to drive off at speed from the officers could have ended much worse and it is fortunate no one was injured.”
