A Whittlesey man who attacked a woman he was in an 'on-off relationship' with after a night out has been jailed.
25-year-old Dominic Bevilacqua attacked the victim at his home in Anglers Avenue, Whittlesey.
He was jailed for 20 months and given an indefinite restraining order after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
Peterborough Magistrates' Court heard how the victim said Bevilacqua "just switched" and grabbed her hair, dragging her off a bed, after a night out.
He punched her in the face repeatedly, strangled her, and kicked her in the face before she escaped.
The victim went to hospital for treatment.
“Bevilacqua launched a brutal and cowardly attack and then tried to blame the victim so it’s great he’s been brought to justice", DC Yeli Zaicevs, who investigated, said.
He continued, “Domestic abuse is a force priority, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to put perpetrators in front of the courts.”
