Dangerous driver banned from roads after incident in Spalding

A dangerous driver from Peterborough has been banned from the roads after his actions put pedestrians and other road users at risk following an incident in Spalding.

Shad Ahmadi was seen driving his silver Vauxhall Insignia on Windsor Crescent in Spalding. in May when he was asked to pull over one of Lincolnshire Police's Roads officers; he complied with the request and stopped but as the officer got out of his car Ahmadi put his foot down and sped off hoping to disappear.

Ahmadi drove dangerously around the streets of Spalding, exceeding the speed limits and drove through a red light narrowly missing a pedal cyclist as he crossed over into Winsover Road.

The dashcam footage shows him narrowly missing a lamp post as he swerves violently towards a row of shops. He carried on driving; he contravened another red light and a no entry sign, driving the wrong way onto Victoria Street.

Ahmadi eventually pulled into a supermarket car park where he stopped his car and along with his front seat passenger, they both ran from the vehicle. Ahmadi was closely followed by the officer who detained and arrested him.

A search of the boot of the car by officers found a quantity of cigarettes which are believed to be counterfeit and have been handed to Trading Standards.

The 29 year old, of Kirkstall in Peterborough, appeared at Boston Magistrates Court on 4th June. He was charged with dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and failing to stop. Ahmadi pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years. and banned from driving for three years.

He appeared before Lincoln Magistrates Court on Friday 30th May where he pleaded guilty to all of the offences charged; he received an interim driving ban.

He then appeared at Boston Magistrates Court on Wednesday 4th June and was sentenced to six months in prison suspended for two years. He was also disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for three years and must pass an extended test of competence. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £154.
