Crews have tackled a field fire in a village in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 3.34pm on Saturday (25 July) to reports of a fire on Rectory Lane in Peakirk.

Crews were sent from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, Whittlesey, Littleport, alongside the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, and a crew from Stamford.

The service said the field was well alight, and crews worked to get it under control.

Several firefighters remained at the scene overnight to check for hotspots and to make the area safe.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
