Police have seized drugs worth thousands of pounds and made multiple arrests as part of a crackdown on county lines dealing in Cambridgeshire.

Officers conducted 12 warrants across Peterborough, Cambridge and Huntingdon last week, with 32 arrests being made.

Large quantities of Class A and B drugs were seized, along with cash and designer goods.

Weapons including samurai swords, knives, machetes, firearms and a taser were also seized.

A number of potential cuckooed addresses, where drug dealers take over the home of a vulnerable person in order to use it as a base for dealing, were also visited.

Multiple investigations are underway, with three people charged with drug offences and the remaining suspects released on bail.

The action was part of County Lines Intensification Week, led by the National Police Chief’s Council.

Activity took place across the country between 2nd and 8th March as part of a coordinated effort to disrupt organised crime groups and combat county lines drug dealing.

Detective Inspector Shish Thind said: “County lines is an abhorrent crime which devastates communities and causes long-lasting harm to vulnerable people who are exploited for criminal gain.

“This week of action was an important part of our ongoing work to combat the issue in Cambridgeshire and protect the vulnerable people being targeted by gangs.

“We will continue to work relentlessly to disrupt organised crime groups and bring drug dealers before the courts.”
