Detectives have arrested two 19-year-old men in connection with the murder investigation into the death of Conor Kinlan, whose body was recovered from the River Nene in Peterborough last Saturday (24th January 2024).

The first 19-year-old, from Peterborough, was arrested last night on suspicion of murder and possession of a class B drug. He remains in custody at Parkside Police Station.

The second 19-year-old, also from Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He is currently in custody at the same station.

Additionally, a 61-year-old man, arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on bail and is due to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station on 27th April.

Conor, 30, of no fixed address, entered the River Nene near Pleasure Fair Meadow Road following reports of a chase on 24th January at around noon. Police were called to the scene, and specialist dive teams recovered his body in the early hours of the following day. Detectives have since confirmed they are treating his death as murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said:

“Detectives have been working hard since Friday to piece together how and why Conor ended up in the river, and we have multiple lines of enquiry which are being followed.

“Specialist officers are supporting his family, and there will be increased patrols in the area over the coming days.”

Conor's family has requested privacy at this time.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact police via the Major Incident Public Portal or call 101, quoting Operation Adeo.
