Centre 33 in Peterborough will soon be able to support thirty young people struggling with homelessness, thanks to over nineteen thousand pounds of new funding.

The charity, which works with some of the most marginalised young people in the area, says the extra money will help tackle not just homelessness but a range of other challenges.

Ellie from Centre 33 said:

“In Peterborough in particular, we do see a lot of homelessness and I think a lot of the young people that we see in general are from very marginalised backgrounds."

"The majority of young people we see come to us with, it's usually, there's usually around seven different issues that they have going on. So that could range from the practical support to housing, typically, that's then also going to impact finances, employment, and then the sort of mental health and the emotional support side of that as well.”

She adds, “This funding will allow us to support not only with the homelessness issue, but also all of that other kind of holistic and personalised support as well."

"It's looking at the whole picture and delivering that support holistically so that they've got the best opportunities to build and take control back of their lives."

"I think a lot of young people become very isolated, and I think without that early support, there is that risk of that snowball effect.”

The charity says the funding will be used to offer help with housing, finances, employment, and emotional wellbeing, aiming to give young people the best chance to build a stable future.
