Stilton martial artist Lana Strickland has returned from the WMAC World Championships in Hull with an incredible six medals — including two golds — in her debut appearance on the world stage.

The World Martial Arts Committee tournament, held from Thursday to Sunday (18 - 21 September), brought together elite fighters from across the globe.

Competing across several categories, Lana secured:

  • Gold in Elite Light Contact
  • Gold in Cadets Light Contact
  • Bronze in Adults Light Contact
  • Bronze in Adults Full Contact
  • Bronze in Cadets Points Fighting
  • Bronze in Traditional Korean Forms

She also competed in the Kicklight category, reaching the quarterfinals before narrowly missing out on a medal.

Reflecting on her success, Lana said: “To say that at my first World Championships I managed to become a World Champion and an Elite World Champion is unbelievable.

"You never lose, only learn.”

She expressed gratitude to the many people who supported her journey, including those who contributed to her GoFundMe campaign and local sponsors Higgsy’s, who provided her fight kit.

“The amount of support I received, even from total strangers, was phenomenal,” she said. “I was proud to wear your logo while representing my country.”

Lana’s achievements have put both Stilton and Cambridgeshire firmly on the martial arts map, and her debut success marks her as one of the county’s most exciting young talents to watch.
