Cambridgeshire mass train stabbing suspect pleads not guilty
Anthony Williams,33 now faces trial after denying multiple attempted murder charges
A man accused of carrying out a mass stabbing on a train in Cambridgeshire has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him as he prepares to stand trial later this year.
Anthony Williams, 33, is facing 21 charges, including 10 counts of attempted murder, following a series of separate attacks on 31st October and 1st November last year.
Appearing via video link at Cambridge Crown Court, Williams denied the charges, which include stabbings on an LNER train from Doncaster to London.
Among the accusations, Williams is alleged to have attacked several individuals on the train, including a 14-year-old boy, and a man on a King’s Cross to Peterborough train.
He has also been charged over incidents in London including an attack at Pontoon Dock DLR station, where a victim sustained facial injuries.
In Peterborough, on 31st October, Williams reportedly attempted to murder three individuals, engaged in affray at a barbershop, and stole knives from an Asda store in Stevenage.
Williams also faces charges of attacking a police officer and possessing a knife in public spaces.
Judge Mark Bishop has scheduled Williams’ trial to begin on 26th October, with a case management hearing set for 2nd October.
