A man who sexually assaulted a woman who attempted to help him in Peterborough after he collapsed from drink and drugs has been jailed for a year.

Brenden Clarke, 33, of no fixed abode but from the Peterborough area, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and failing to comply with notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register.

He was previously convicted of a sexual offence in 2009.

The court heard Clarke collapsed on Bourges Boulevard on 4 February 2026.

Two women spotted him while driving past and pulled over to help and call an ambulance.

As Clarke started coming round, he began making sexual gestures towards one of the women and tried to kiss her.

The woman told him to stop yet he continued to make further sexual comments.

He ventured into the road, forcing cars to stop, before the women encouraged him back onto the path.

Clarke then claimed he was going to the probation office, and the women walked with him in fear he'd walk into the road again.

Clarke approached the victim again and sexually assaulted her.

She continued to remove his grasp and tell him to stop, which he wouldn't until she pushed him into a wall.

As well as his jail sentence, Clarke will be on the Sex Offender's Register for ten years.
