Booking System Coming to Lincolnshire Tips to Ease Queues and Protect Staff
New measures aim to tackle pressure at busy Household Waste Recycling Centres
A booking system will soon be introduced at Lincolnshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres in a move to cut down long queues and reduce staff intimidation.
The decision comes after Lincolnshire County Council’s executive approved plans to change the way residents access the county’s eleven tips.
Councillor Danny Brookes, executive member for the environment, says the current service is struggling to cope with demand, processing around one point two million visits and more than sixty-six thousand tonnes of waste yearly.
The amount of waste has jumped nearly fifty percent since twenty twenty-one, pushing the centres to their limits.
Officials say the new system is designed to give residents a time slot for their visit, helping to control traffic and ease frustration for both visitors and staff.
A recent consultation found most complaints centred on queuing and traffic management, and some workers reported rising levels of confrontation linked to delays.
The booking system, expected to cost thirty thousand pounds a year, will include both online and phone options to make it accessible for everyone.
It will be rolled out at a later date, with council officers now developing the scheme.
