A man has been jailed for 20 months after deliberately driving at a police car and injuring two officers in Peterborough.

Bilal Dawlatzai, 25, drove his blue Vauxhall Astra into the marked police vehicle after officers tried to stop him at the Herlington Centre in Orton Malborne on 20 April.

Officers had received information that Dawlatzai was a disqualified driver with a history of dangerous driving.

The crash left two officers with minor neck, shoulder and back injuries.

Dawlatzai, of no fixed address, admitted at Huntingdon Law Courts:

  • dangerous driving
  • failing to stop for police
  • disqualified driving
  • criminal damage
  • two counts of assaulting an emergency worker
  • and failing to comply with a roadside drink or drug test.

He's also been banned from driving for 52 months.
