Man charged with murder following assault in Peterborough

A man has been charged with murder after a man died following an assault in Broadway, Peterborough.
31-year-old Ashley McMillan reportedly assaulted 63-year-old John McGarry on 30th August causing a serious head injury.
Mr McGarry never regained consciousness, and died on 12th December.
McMillan was initially charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, but this charge has now been changed to murder.
In a tribute, Mr McGarry’s family asked for privacy and added: “We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Addenbrooke’s Hospital for the care he received, and to his many friends for their love, kindness, and support.”
