Work has started in a Herefordshire town to build a new medical centre.

The team at Ryeland Surgery in Leominster will move from their current location in Westfield Walk to the new site at the end of Porters Mill Close.

Six potential sites in Leominster were looked at for the new facility, with this being the clear first choice after an official NHS site appraisal.

Dr Crispin Fisher is a GP at Ryeland Surgery, speaking about the move he said: "We are delighted we are finally able to announce news of this project.

"The new building will allow our team to provide the excellent standards of care and service to which we aspire and will be a vast improvement on what we are currently able to provide for patients, including much better access for those with disabilities and 70 parking spaces.

“We are extremely grateful for the tireless commitment of our own team, FH Dale Ltd and NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICB, with whom we have worked very closely for several years to achieve this outcome."

The facility is set to open later this year.
