Work progressing on Worcestershire town's new pump track and skate park
The facilities are being built in Droitwich Spa as part of a £600,000 investment by Wychavon District Council
Two new outdoor play facilities are starting to take shape in a Worcestershire town after work to create them got underway.
As part of a £600,000 investment by Wychavon District Council, a pump track and modern skate park are being built in Droitwich Spa.
They're both set to be situated next to the area's leisure centre car park, with the pump track designed by ON TRACK and Maverick Skateparks behind the skate park one and also the installing of it.
The entire project is being overseen by Dragon Play & Sports, with leader of Wychavon Richard Morris visiting it recently to see how it is all coming along.
Councillor Morris said: "We’re proud to be delivering these high-quality, unique and modern facilities that reflect what our community, particularly our young people, has asked for.
"They are also a testament to the determination of our officers to overcome barriers to create a place for people of all ages and abilities to come together, be active, and enjoy."
The scheme is part of Wychavon's multi-million-pound investment into leisure and wellbeing in Droitwich Spa, which also includes likes of the transformation of the Droitwich Spa Lido.
Two people who joined the authority's leader on the visit were Alex Pedlow and Martin Maycroft, both of whom had pushed for the construction of a new pump track in the town.
Following him getting a glimpse at the site, Mr Pedlow said: “It seemed like a long way off when we started to campaign for this and people told us not to bother, but we stuck at it and it’s great to see the progress being made.
"This is going to be a great facility for Droitwich Spa, particularly for the town’s young people."
Both facilities are planning on being ready to open and to be used by October.
