Worcester man reflects on 320 mile cycle to Belgium

A man from Worcester has been reflecting on his 320 mile cycle to Belgium.
Russell Walker was part of a group of cyclists who cycled from the city's Gheluvelt Park to Geluveld in Belgium to honour those from the Worcestershire Regiment involved in the Battle of Gheluvelt.
According to records, over 300 men of the 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment were involved in the conflict which saw them take back the control of Gheluvelt, now known as Geluveld on the map, and the chateau there.
Russell decided to take on the challenge after discovering his great-grandfather was involved in a World War One battle there back in 1914.
Russell said:
"I look back at the photographs and find it quite emotional that everyone had a connection and a story to tell of the whole journey. We've come back as a stronger group of friends and we will share this memory forever. I still pinch myself that we have achieve this."
He also told us they couldn't have completed the challenge without the amazing support of so many people:
I can't thank enough the people that backed us and gave up the sponsorship, support and belief that we could put this together.
"Also the support group that came along with us, it meant that the group of cyclists we put together that ages ranged from 21-74, everybody completed it and was safe and we did it as a team. It was just fantastic."
The event too place and raised money for three charities close to those who took part.
