Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses, after a man was found with serious head injuries in Hereford, in the early hours of yesterday (Monday).

Police were called just after 5am, to reports of a man found unconscious on the Great Western Way, between Sainsbury’s and Hunderton Bridge.

The man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition and detectives are currently treating his injuries as unexplained.

There has been an increased police presence in the area since yesterday, as officers continue with their inquiries into this incident, which includes checking CCTV footage.

A scene guard will remain in place until tomorrow (Wednesday), so members of the public are urged to find alternative routes.

Detective Sergeant Polly Price, of Hereford Reactive CID, said: “We continue to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed anything in the location between around 2.30am and 5.30am, or who may have any other information, to come forward.

“The man’s injuries remain unexplained, and while we are still trying to establish how he came to sustain them, we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log number 90i of Monday 31 August.
