Two teenage boys arrested after Evesham incidents

Two teenagers have been arrested following a series of incidents over the weekend in Evesham including criminal damage, theft and burglary.

The arrests follow damage being caused to two flower planters and damage to a car on Bridge Street on Thursday (1 October), and a burglary at the Old Tequila and Lime pub on High Street the same day.

A robbery also took place at Europa Foods on Port Street on Thursday and a there was a theft from Lidl on Broadway Road on Saturday (3 October).

Two 16-year-old boys were arrested on Saturday. One was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, robbery, burglary and theft and racially aggravated harassment relating to a separate incident in September.

The other was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and burglary. Both are on police bail until 30 and 31 October respectively while an investigation takes place.

Police Sergeant Duncan Eades of the Evesham town centre team said: “There was a series of incidents over the weekend during the Mop fair.

“We understand these caused some concern in the community, but we are pleased to say we have made two arrests.

“Enquiries are ongoing and an investigation has been launched.

“We are also aware the damage to the planters sparked some discussion on social media, however this was not reported to us. Anyone who wants to report a crime should call police on 101 or via our website.”
